More Information About MTX Support
MTX Support is designed to be taken along with the prescription medication methotrexate. Individuals taking methotrexate are at an increased risk of certain side effects due to the drug's effects on the immune system. Fortunately, these side effects can be reduced by taking a folic acid supplement, thus permitting methotrexate therapy to be safer and more effective.
Methotrexate also results in an increased level of homocysteine in the blood, which has been associated with an increased risk of heart disease. Folic acid and vitamin B12 supplementation offset this homocysteine increase, which in turn may reduce cardiovascular risk.
MTX Support provides the daily dose of folic acid needed to decrease the risk of side effects from Methotrexate therapy, as well as maintain healthy homocysteine levels.* In addition to 1000 mcg folic acid, MTX support provides 500 mcg vitamin B12 in order to decrease the risk of B12 deficiency. These doses are safe, and should be well-tolerated without any side effects.
