Self–Assessment of Urinary Symptoms
If you think you have a bladder infection, a trip to the doctor's office is in order. There are several symptoms which suggest an infection may be present. Here's a list of those symptoms, defined by their "proper" medical term.
- Frequency
- is making more frequent trips to the bathroom.
- Urgency
- means that the sensation to void is much more noticeable and "urgent" than usual.
- Dysuria
- is the medical term for a "burning sensation" when urinating
- Hematuria
- is the term for blood in the urine
- Hesitancy
- means that it takes a while to get the stream to start
- Intermittency
- is when the stream starts and stops
- Nocturia
- is when you awaken in the middle of the night to urinate
